How the Calorie Burn Calculator Works

This Tolyo.app free online tool uses MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values to estimate calories burned. One MET is the energy used at rest. Activities have higher METs depending on intensity (e.g., walking 3 mph ≈ 3.3 MET; running 6 mph ≈ 9.8–10 MET).

Formula

  • kcal = MET × 3.5 × weight(kg) ÷ 200 × minutes
  • You can switch units (kg / lb). The calculator converts automatically.
  • METs are averages; fitness level, terrain, temperature, and technique change true energy cost.

Example

A person weighing 70 kg running at ~10 MET for 30 min burns roughly 10 × 3.5 × 70 ÷ 200 × 30 ≈ 367 kcal.
